Construction and Design
The lines of this remarkable hull were drawn by Raymond Hunt of Boston Mass., USA, and are the result of his experience with the development of fast motor boats, including models for the P.T. boats for the US Navy.
The outstanding feature of the hull is its ability to maintain speed to windward in bad conditions, without heavy pounding and with the excellent steering characteristics when broad reaching in broken water. The hull is hot moulded in one piece from African mahogany.
The chine is integrally moulded to the outside of the hull, giving very great longitudinal strength and complete freedom from leakage in almost any weather condition. In addition to the normal chine batten, there are additional breaker strips under the hull, which reduce the wetted surface when running at speed and substantially increase the performance of the boat, which is unusually high for the power and weight.
The resin that is used to glue the laminations apart from providing great strength and rigidity also serves to protect the hull from marine worms and other forms of boring sea life.
